I can feel it, sense that it’s happening and experience it as I use technology to get through my day. Internet, iPad, iPhone, Skype, cellphones, Netflix, the way we communicate, interact, pay our bills, buy goods, and how we live in the world indicates that we, the masses, are moving into a new level; a new dimension.
I am aware and am experiencing the shift on an occupational level and continually need to readjust my brain to align with the rapid change so that I can stay balanced with this fast moving stream of knowledge and level of activity. It’s kind of blowing my mind.
I’ve always worked with data, began working with computers in the ‘70s, first as a user, than as a trainer, testing software, using a mini mainframe, and performing data entry. In the ‘80s I bought my own personal computer and have had about 10 since then. I’ve built a website or two but it’s gone beyond that. Using computers to publish a paper, to gather and send out information to the public, to distribute information as part of national political and public awareness campaigns, for building an audience, and just keeping in touch as we do now has me considering new possibilities for the future. I’m learning to operate in a new way. For as far into the future as I can see or sense I, we, will soon be connected to everything and our own individual capabilities will span far beyond where we are at this moment in time. Sometimes the ideas I come up with scare me, they are so big and amazing. But of course it takes time, money and working with groups of people to make it happen. I’ll bet a lot of people are feeling and thinking this way. It’s a huge buzz. Can I manage it? Will it be too overwhelming?
I’ve been experiencing the shift for a while. The ideas and the potential for growth in business, in areas that are important to me, have my mind working on overtime. I want to jump in and do it all, but if I move too quickly it could be like jumping into a blender; I’d be sliced and diced. On the other hand, if I wait too long it could be a lost opportunity.
My goal with Information Press has been to raise awareness and empower people to take charge of their life. We do our best to offer tools, insight and support to those that are ready for change, for something new.
But without asking for or wanting it change is all around us. Some of us have the luxury of sitting back and enjoying the ride that new technology is bringing our way. Others are being forced to move more quickly, adjusting to the effects of climate change or finding ways to conserve water during the draught. Whatever you are doing, it’s time to prepare yourself for the wild ride of 2014.
Spring alive and get involved on a level that feels comfortable. Embrace the technology that surrounds you or find a gentle space that allows you to zone out while the world turns. If you’re tired of the government, its lack of action or compassion for the people who are paying taxes which pay their salaries, run for office, register to vote and make your voice be heard through you vote.
We have so much to keep us busy between work, family, volunteering, and at the same time we have much to be concerned about i.e. the economy, pollution, food, health care, peace, education, water, and our personal freedoms to name a few.
We at Information Press are moving forward. Stay connected… visit our website and let’s explore the future together.
P.S. I’m considering a run for Congress. The last day for me to file is March 7. If you would like to support my run or if you have comments please email me at email@example.com. I would love to represent the 24th District; I guarantee you that you’ll will be represented to the best of my ability.
