Leading experts address cancer concerns & road to wellness
The Cancer Support Community is set to launch its Cancer Survivorship Series. This free four-part program series offers cancer survivors, their families, friends and health care professionals various types of information from leading experts to help cope with cancer concerns with focus on issues that arise after treatment ends and the road to wellness begins.
The series will be held through June at two locations, the Twin Cities Medical Arts Building in Templeton and the Cancer Support Community in Paso Robles.As part of the co-sponsored series, participants will hear from experts in the field of oncology, cardiology, psychology, radiation, dentistry, and nutrition. They will also learn more about survivorship issues ranging from side effects of treatment, to anxiety, chronic pain and exercise and recapturing joy.
On Thursday, March 6 from 6 to 8 p.m., the second series program – Survivorship: From cancer patient to cancer survivor – will be presented at The Cancer Support Community, located at 614 13th St. in Paso Robles. The transition from active treatment to post-treatment care is critical to long-term health. Join the conversation with Dr. Brian DiCarlo, a board certified oncologist/hematologist at Coastal Integrative Cancer Care in San Luis Obispo, as he talks about new developments in aftercare plans, managing the lasting effects of cancer treatment, and understanding the road ahead.
