Spring of 2016, highlighted by the Total Lunar Eclipse on March 23rd, will be a season filled with real opportunity for self empowerment, for manifesting realistic, forward looking objectives in our lives, and developing the practical use of our resources to achieve our aims. And while much will be happening on a national and global scale, this column will mostly focus on how we, as individuals, can best use the upcoming celestial happenings to guide and inspire our own lives.
A major theme that will affect the entire season is a flowing interaction between optimistic, forward looking Jupiter in Virgo, and transformative Pluto in Capricorn. The fact that the element Earth is accentuated helps give us a practical, grounded approach to life. We’ll have the opportunity to evaluate how we’re creating long term material security through the work we do. Yet we can also focus on reevaluating our belief system, our philosophy of life, and examine what gives our life value and meaning. We may even ask, “What is it I can change within myself that will truly define my ‘raison d’être’, my reason for being?”. Overall, we can expand both how we see ourselves, as well as how we can contribute more to the general welfare of society.
Decisions made during this time can have long term implications for the betterment of your material and spiritual well being. Implementing changes in diet, adopting any health regimen that improves your quality of life, and having a more positive and productive attitude toward work and one’s daily routine, will all pay real dividends in the years to come.
Another planetary interaction of real meaning is a challenging contact between Jupiter and Saturn, the two giants of our solar system, the planets of social responsibility. In simple terms, positive Jupiter wants to expand and move forward, while practical Saturn demands we move slowly, realistically assessing the limitations involved. With Saturn turning retrograde on March 25th, there will be times when life moves ever so slowly, when responsibilities and obligations occupy more of our time than usual. There could be times of tension, having to make adjustments, even removing persons and/or circumstances that have become more problematic than anything else. Or it could be that you are on the receiving end of changes made. What could also happen is that you may move forward in some areas, while cutting back in others. The best way to deal with what is happening is to not be in a hurry, and to make decisions based on a patient and thorough observation of the situation. Above all, be careful with finances, set realistic boundaries, and don’t act impulsively.
A more personal and immediate event that initiates our Springtime is the Total Eclipse of the Moon on March 23rd.
As the light of the Aries Sun shining upon the Libra Moon is blocked by the Earth’s shadow, unconscious aspects of ourselves, our deeper feelings and emotions, our fears, our need for security, will over time tend to come to the surface. The signs involved indicate where we will need to focus our concerns. With the Moon in Libra, the spotlight is on relationships, both the one we have with ourselves, but more importantly, with others. Here the conflict between Aries self interest and the Libra need for compromise needs to be addressed. With Mercury also intimately involved, communicating honestly and objectively, and listening to the point of view of the other, is more important than ever. Finding a balance between asserting oneself, while diplomatically achieving a sense of harmony and appreciation for the relationship, will of course be of benefit to all concerned.
And while, during these times of highlighting differences between people rather than similarities, the above applies to our general interaction with others, there are also very powerful contacts between Venus and Neptune, as well as other celestial points, that will help us address the healing of deep emotional wounds. Cultivating qualities of nurturing and compassion will ultimately lead to greater understanding, affection, and intimacy in our most meaningful relationships.
And while I’d prefer to focus this column entirely on the personal and productive astrological happenings, and not do general predictive astrology, there are some disturbing planetary events of national significance I thought you might want to be aware of.
First off, the Lunar eclipse point exactly, and stressfully, interacts with Venus in the chart of the United States. As a result, it’s likely that discord, an emphasis on others as the cause of the problem, and a focus on self interest and patriotic fervor, will continue to generate a lack of harmony and civility in the land.
At further glance, we see that Mars, currently in the sign Sagittarius, will also be in a tense relationship with Uranus in the U.S. chart the entire month of April. People demonstrating for equality in the workplace, for their civil and human rights, for needing their voice to be heard, will become more visible, as will general unrest and unpredictable behavior. Much tension, even physical violence, could occur during this time, intensifying and reaching a boiling point at mid month.
There’s also a powerful interaction between Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune from mid May into summer that will have major, even global, significance, From truths being revealed about candidates that have us troubled or discouraged, especially around mid June, to economic unpredictability due to oil and gas availability, to further concern around water quality and chemicals affecting the food supply, even catastrophes such as dams collapsing, these will be unsettled times.
Yet through these challenging times, the opportunity for personal growth, richer, more meaningful relationships, and utilizing and implementing the beneficial and productive planetary happenings in our springtime, will generate more love, warmth, and positivity to help uplift and embolden ourselves and encourage others.
Many blessings, take good care, and all the best
