Radioactive Waste

January 19, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

When Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant ceases operation, within the next few years, we will still be faced with the challenges of storage and transportation of the radioactive waste.  Learn about the options and challenges through the third and final presentation in an educational series presented by San Luis Obispo Mothers for Peace.

On January 19 two topics and two speakers will be featured:

Transportation of Radioactive Waste
Speaker – Kevin Kamps, Radioactive Waste Watchdog, Beyond Nuclear, Washington, DC

Consolidated “Interim” Storage
Speaker – Diane D’Arrigo, Radioactive Waste Project Director, Nuclear Information Resource Service, Washington, DC
This is a free event. Simple snacks will be provided.

San Luis Obispo Mothers for Peace  are local activists for a nuclear-free future  and have been legal intervenors in Diablo safety issues since 1973.  As a non-profit organization “the Mothers” are concerned with the local dangers involving the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant, and with the dangers of nuclear power, weapons and waste on national and global levels. Additionally, Mothers for Peace works to promote peace and a nuclear-free, carbon-free world, utilizing conservation and sustainable resources.
