It’s an exciting year for San Luis Obispo County. This marks the 25th Anniversary of the first Earth Day in SLO County. The 2015 Earth Day Fair & Music Festival will take place on Sunday, April 19 from 10 am to 5 pm at El Chorro Regional Park, home of San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden. This is a free, all ages welcome, event. In recognition of this milestone, Earth Day Alliance, Inc., the coordinator, has partnered with KSBY-TV to promote Earth Day county-wide.
Just announced is the appearance of Guy Budd and the Gypsy Souls on the Earth Day Music Festival stage.
The search is underway for sponsors, exhibitors, vendors, volunteers and a logo design. New this year, artists, graphic designers, and talented individuals are invited to enter the 2015 Earth Day Logo Contest. Sponsorship registrations vendor and exhibitor applications and logo entries are due by March 15. Volunteers are needed ongoing and can sign up at any time.
Earth Day Alliance, Inc., a nonprofit group whose sole purpose is to put on a free earth day event annually, is reaching out to the community to create the Earth Day they would like to see in 2015. People of all ages are invited to join the fun and sign up to share their message, action, or product as a sponsor, exhibitor or vendor. There are plenty of volunteer opportunities available in the planning and during the day of 25th Annual Earth Day Fair & Music Festival.
Nationally, 2015 marks forty-five years since the very first Earth Day on April 22, 1970. Originally intended to raise awareness and change how we, the U.S., dealt with pollution, pesticides, and oil spills in the 60s, Earth Day is now recognized world-wide. Today the emphasis is on how each person can make a difference. That is why the Earth Day Alliance is asking children, teens and adults of all ages, organizations: non-profits, businesses, government agencies, clubs, schools, churches, etc. throughout San Luis Obispo County to take action and be part of the solution.
