Some of you may be asking “Where is the February issue?” Sorry to say, we were unable to go to go to press due to lack of funds. You can, however, find all February articles on the Information Press website. Go to the main menu and click on Past Issues, once inside click on February 2015.
Without a strong financial base through ad sales, subscriptions or contributions, Information Press will no longer appear in print or online. It takes time and energy of a qualified staff to gather, edit and place content online or in print. With print there is the cost of printing and delivery. In today’s world it takes many advertisers or the support of the community to keep the efforts going.
When I first began to ask for help to keep Information Press alive I felt charged up but soon I realized I would need to ask for help everyday to keep it running. I lost my spark and felt uncomfortable. My purpose is to share and make others aware, instead I felt as though I was begging. The gift of giving was extinguished. I could not ask anymore; I found it hard to write or talk about it.
This issue exists because of a dream I had. As in past moments, when it seemed it was over, I was inspired to create a smaller paper, to invite students, teachers, sales people, reporters, photographers and the community to come together to take this paper into their hands and to make it their news, views and stories of interest. I have been the keeper of the idea and maintained its purpose and intent to raise awareness and empower people for 24 years. I can stand at the helm for a short time to train but I can no longer do the work. It is my time to move on.
I am committed to providing an April – Earth Day issue. We are lining up stories and advertisers for the future but it will take forty new advertisers and a new crew to create the May issue. When all the parts come together, Information Press can provide solid part time work, a good training center, and most of all represent a very important part of the central coast community.
Many thanks to those that donated in December, you made the January issue possible. This issue comes from additional funds raised and me. We will continue to accept donations and subscriptions with an understanding that the future is in questions. And, of course, we would love to welcome more advertisers to our Information Press family.
Consider this a last call. Your ideas, suggestions and assistance toward our future are welcomed. Sign up by March 20 to be part of the April issue. Let’s get back to 24 pages and share more good stuff about the Central Coast and what you can do to protect our future.
Enjoy our little issue —
