Influenced by the Beatles, a childhood spent living first in Arkansas and then Japan, and her own Bohemian parents, Elizabeth Etta has definitely found her own voice—and it’s a beautiful one. A member of the Japanese/American-roots band Pirates Canoe whose music Rolling Stone described as “a sound that’s Alison Krauss-meets-Ry Cooder-meets Alan Toussaint…” The term “Americana” may describe the band’s music better than anything else, and as a solo artist, Etta carries on the style with an honest, gentle voice that will make you long for home—whichever side of the Pacific Ocean it’s on. Though she now lives in SLO County, Etta still travels to Japan regularly to perform with Pirates Canoe. Don’t miss her performance at Earth Day Fair and Music Festival this Saturday, April 24.
