Mothers for Peace (MFP) annually awards scholarships to high school seniors and juniors at the university or college level. The high school awards are $750; the university/college level are $1500.
This year the MFP gave three awards to high school seniors and none on the college level. With a large number of applications, all from terrific students from high schools in SLO County, it was a tough assignment to narrow the choice to three considering the pool of top notch applicants. The criteria for the selection, aside from good scholastic achievement, is involvement in social justice, peace and environmental issues.
The winners. the school they will be attending and their major are: Courtney McGuire, UCBerkeley environmental engineering; Xue DiMaggio, UCLA environmental art and Katie Chapman-Pinto USF political science
