Our geographic center is California, with a particular connection to San Luis Obispo and the Central Coast. We also cover significant national developments when they have consequences for California or help explain issues important to our readers.

Why We Publish

Information Press exists to make consequential information easier to find, understand, and evaluate. Public decisions often arrive as regulations, agency notices, complex financial data, court filings, research reports, or technical announcements. Readers need more than an isolated headline: they need the facts, the relevant context, the limits of what is known, and reliable sources for further reading. That context also helps readers separate an official decision from its announcement, distinguish what is already known from what is still uncertain, and identify where the underlying information can be checked.

We aim to produce news reports, explainers, practical guides, and analysis that answer concrete questions. Who is affected by a policy? When does a rule take effect? Does a statewide measure differ from a local ordinance? What can a consumer verify before choosing a service? What does a published statistic measure - and what does it leave out?

Our historic slogan, “Raising awareness and empowering people since 1991,” expresses an aspiration to make information useful. The slogan reflects the name's long-standing Central Coast association and the present publication's public-information mission.

A Defined Editorial Scope

We do not attempt to cover every trending topic or publish articles solely to fill a search-results category. Story selection should be guided by public interest, reader usefulness, source quality, timeliness, and a demonstrable connection to our editorial subjects. Coverage should add explanation or verified context rather than merely restate advertising material or unsourced claims.

Our Coverage: Five Editorial Pillars

Our coverage follows subjects where public decisions, reliable data, and useful context matter to California readers. These subjects are connected by a practical question: what changed, whom might it affect, and which reliable records can help a reader understand the consequences? Coverage priorities are not a promise to report every development in each category.

California Government and Public Affairs

We examine legislation, agency decisions, local government, public services, regulatory changes, elections, and issues involving the use of public resources. Articles should distinguish enacted policy from proposals, political claims from verified facts, and statewide requirements from local rules.

Housing and Transportation

Our housing coverage includes rental affordability, tenant protections, evictions, housing development, property markets, and the policies affecting renters and homeowners. Transportation reporting considers public transit, infrastructure, mobility, commuting costs, and service changes affecting California communities.

Business, Finance, and Consumer Affairs

We cover jobs, prices, insurance, banking, credit, household budgets, consumer protection, and economic conditions. In comparisons and guides, we aim to explain documented costs, terms, availability, risk, and meaningful limitations. Financial information is general editorial content, not personal financial, tax, or investment advice.

Climate, Public Health, and Education

Wildfires, environmental policy, public health programs, healthcare access, schools, universities, and community resilience are important parts of our coverage. These subjects can affect safety and major life decisions; they require particular care with dates, scientific findings, official guidance, and uncertainty.

Technology and Digital Life

We cover technology when its effects on households, public institutions, business, privacy, or consumer decisions are meaningful. We do not present every product announcement as newsworthy or treat company marketing as independent verification.

Who We Write For

Information Press is written primarily for English-speaking readers in California. Our content may also be useful to families and consumers, renters and homeowners, small-business operators, workers, researchers, and people following government decisions and the California economy. National readers may find our material relevant when federal policies, financial conditions, or consumer developments affect their circumstances. A useful explanation should make its assumptions visible, especially when circumstances differ by county, household, or service provider. Readers should be able to recognize whether a general finding is relevant to their own questions.

We try to explain unfamiliar terminology without eliminating important detail. We do not assume that every reader has specialist legal, medical, financial, or technical training. Nor do we suggest that general articles can replace advice tailored to a person's circumstances.

Historical Timeline and Continuity

  1. 1991

Information Press traces its historical identity to 1991 , when the name was associated with a free monthly publication serving California's Central Coast. Publicly available historical references also document the name's connection to the San Luis Obispo area in later years.

  2. 2026

In 2026 , Information Press began a new chapter as a California-focused digital news publication. The 2026 digital chapter builds on the name's documented history without attributing earlier publishing work to the current team.

We make this distinction because readers should be able to separate documented historical context from what is known about the current digital operation. Historical media references, when documented, appear separately on our Media Mentions page. A historical reference can establish that a name appeared in an earlier publication without establishing continuity in ownership, staff, editorial procedures, or daily operations. That distinction matters whenever readers assess the current publisher.

How We Work and Protect Reader Trust

Sourcing, Verification, and Corrections

We favor primary and authoritative sources when those sources are available and relevant: official records, agency publications, legislation, regulatory filings, original research, public datasets, and identifiable statements. Secondary reporting can provide context, but other outlets' reporting must be attributed and must not be represented as our own independent investigation. The value of a source depends on what it actually supports: an official notice can document a rule, while a dataset may show a trend without explaining its cause. The article should make that difference understandable.

Our editorial process should include research, drafting, review of significant claims, source and link verification, added scrutiny of sensitive claims, and a human publication decision. We distinguish news from analysis and opinion, and we explain methodology in comparisons and rankings. Unnamed sources are used rarely and only under restrictive conditions; anonymity is never a substitute for factual support.

When readers identify a material mistake, we assess credible evidence and correct verified factual errors. Significant changes may be explained in a correction or update note. The Editorial Policy , Fact-Checking Policy , Publishing Principles , and Corrections Policy describe these standards in greater detail.

AI-Generated Illustrations and Human Oversight

Information Press permits artificial intelligence only for selected visual illustrations . AI is not used to create article drafts, write news reports, translate articles, summarize public documents, generate headlines, or monitor sources. Synthetic imagery must not be represented as documentary photography of a real event or as proof that something occurred.

Where needed to prevent confusion, AI-generated visuals should be clearly labeled and reviewed for misleading details. AI may not fabricate sources, quotations, people, credentials, or events. Human oversight remains responsible for verification and publication. See our AI Use Policy .

Independence and Commercial Boundaries

Google AdSense is our display-advertising service . Advertising does not determine editorial decisions, and the presence of ads does not establish any particular advertising revenue. This separation applies not just to obvious advertising placements but also to decisions about how an organization, product, or claim is described in ordinary coverage.

Information Press does not currently offer paid sponsored editorial articles, advertorials, affiliate links, paid reviews, premium paid profiles, or purchased rankings. Advertising relationships must not control independent coverage, factual conclusions, or corrections. Paid visibility does not determine editorial ranking position. More information appears in Advertise With Us , Sponsored Content Policy , and Rankings and Reviews Methodology .
