Sierra Nevada 1 article

The Sierra Nevada is a mountain range extending along eastern California and into Nevada, with high peaks, forests, reservoirs and alpine landscapes. Snowpack and headwater rivers help supply communities and agriculture far beyond the mountains. Tourism, recreation, forestry and mountain towns depend on access routes vulnerable to storms and wildfire. The term identifies a geographic and ecological region, not a single county or public agency, and its communities vary greatly by elevation.
