Humboldt County 1 article
Humboldt County lies along California's North Coast, with Eureka as its seat and Humboldt Bay as a key harbor. Redwood forests, fishing, university activity around Arcata and rural industries give the area a distinctive economy. Roads such as Highway 101 connect scattered coastal and river communities through terrain vulnerable to landslides. Forest management, cannabis land-use rules, watershed protection and earthquake and tsunami preparedness all influence county policy.
