Alameda County 2 articles

Alameda County covers a substantial part of the East Bay, including Oakland, Berkeley, Fremont and communities east of the hills. Oakland is the county seat and a major port, while university research, manufacturing and transportation networks contribute to the regional economy. The county includes dense urban neighborhoods and growing suburban areas around the Tri-Valley. Shoreline flooding, housing affordability, wildfire exposure in the hills and transit access differ considerably across its communities.
